Greetings Brethren,

Welcome to the 8th Masonic District webpage!  My theme for this year is TEAMWORK!  We have a lot of exciting things going on this year and I hope that all of you will join with me in WORKING TOGETHER to make this District the best that it can be.

Our Grand Master, MW Jeffrey Eugene Hodges, expects each of us to work hard and play hard in Masonry.  His theme "Discovering our Potential" challenges each of us to dig deep within ourselves to be the best Mason that we can be, and to mentor others so that they can realize their potential.

The Grand Master's Official Visit to our District is on Friday 27 February 2009 and the social hour starts at 5:30 pm  and the dinner starts at 6:30 pm at the Bowling Green Town hall.  The cost is $20.00 a piece for all Masons and non-Masons alike.  Please see your Worshipful Master to purchase your ticket and join me in welcoming our Grand Master to our District!  MW Hodges also invites all of us to join him at the Masonic Home of Virginia's Veterans flag site on 10 October 2009, Masonic Home Family Day, to pay tribute to all Virginia Masons that participated in the WWII D-Day

invasion.  Wor Jeff St Onge of Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4 is the District representative for this event and is going to hire a bus to take us down there and back.  Please contact your Worshipful Master or Secretary and sign up today!  Wor Joey Schiebel of Kilwinning-Cross Lodge No. 2-237 is the District representative for a District wide picnic to be held later this year. Please stay tuned for more District information.

I encourage each of you to get involved in your Lodge and to participate as much as the length your cable tow will allow.  I and your District Officers stand ready to assist each and every one of you to learn and grow as men and Masons.

                                                                                                        Fraternally yours,

                                                                                                        Steven W. Sanford, DDGM
